In therapy?

I’ve thought a lot about whether I want to share this. At this point its only going on my blog, not social media. Its mainly because I don’t have a huge readership on my blog so I feel I can be a bit more candid.

On Saturday, I had my first counselling session. Recently, life has been a bit overwhelming for me. I’ve struggled to see a way out, a light at the end of the tunnel. I have been incredibly low at time and it’s affected my relationship with my children because I feel I can’t cope very well which makes me lose my temper a lot more than I normally would. I also find it hard to connect emotionally sometimes, I just kind of shut down my mind because I don’t want to let the bad feelings in.

I also have a few issues with anxiety. I struggle to sleep a lot and often get to a point where I’m feeling so anxious that it’s hard to breathe.

So I booked an appointment with a counselor – it is a charity called counselling for social change which means that it is affordable for those on low incomes. I had my first session on Saturday and I already feel like it’s helping. I don’t think my problems are anything too major or out of the ordinary but I’m hoping a few sessions will act as a sort of mental health MOT and I’ll get the tools I need to keep my MH in ship shape.
