How I read my Bible

Hey guys hope you are all well! Today’s post is all about how I read my Bible. I started having daily time spent reading my Bible 5 years a go and I haven’t looked back! There have been points where I’ve fallen out of the habit like when the girls were first born etc. But I really believe it’s a huge part of my life now!

So, to begin with I pick a book of the Bible and spend time reading that. If you’ve not read your Bible regularly before, I would start in the gospels. So at this time I’m reading Philippians and what I like to do is take it slow. I read one chapter at a time, on the first day I will read through the whole chapter or half the chapter if it’s really long. I will underline parts that I agree with or strike a chord with me.

The next day I will go through the second half of the chapter. Then, in the next days I will go back through what I’ve read. I will again highlight and underline.

The next day I will go through the study notes. I have a New Living Translation life application study bible. That means that the notes explain both historical context and meanings of passages and also how you can apply them to your life. So I read a few verses and then the notes on them and it really helps me to dig a bit deeper.

Each day I also use my journal to write down my thoughts and feelings. I also write what verses strike a chord with me and how I can apply them to my life. I write my prayers and what good things God has been doing in my life. I love to be able to look through my previous journals and see what prayers have been answered etc.

I hope you enjoyed this post! And I hope it gives you some ideas as to how to read your Bible more!
