At the end of last year, Josh and I became National Trust members! I never really considered it as I thought a membership was really expensive and we would hardly use it. However, when we moved to Cornwall I started to realise that lots of nice places are National Trust, not to mention beaches etc! When you’re a member you don’t have to pay for parking which makes a big difference when you go to the beach!
We also have a property (Lanhydrock) fairly local to us and it’s a really lovely place with huge grounds which is great for the girls to burn energy! So we took the leap and got a membership!
It actually wasn’t anywhere near as expensive as I imagined. First of all, under 5s are free so the girls were no extra cost. A joint membership is £108 for 12 months or just £9 a month. It would literally cost more than that for us to get in to one NT property, without parking! You can also get an individual membership for £65 a year or £5.40 a month. We decided to pay for 12 months in one go as we had the money at that time and we prefer to have less monthly outgoings if we can help it.
So, in my blog I am planning on doing a series of our experiences of National Trust and if it is worth it. We definitely got our money’s worth in December as we visited National Trust properties six times! I guess having this membership will also encourage us to go more which will be great.
I look forward to sharing this with you!
